How did Shakespeare immortalize his friend's beauty. The poet wants to save his friend from the onslaught of time.

Her friend's beauty is better than summer's.  The beauty of summer days is often incongruous.

The sun is sometimes very hot and sometimes the sun is obscured by clouds.  Many times rough wind spoils the beauty of spo tur.

Even the pleasant elements of summer do not last long.  So the poet can understand the failure to immortalize his friend by comparing it to the summer day.

He realizes that only his writings can perpetuate the beauty of his friend.  His verses are immortal and therefore the beauty and virtues of his friend will be maintained forever through these verses.

The beauty of his friend is more beautiful than summer day.  The beauty of summer is often inconsistent.

Sometimes the sun gets hotter and some by times the sun loses its luminosity through the clouds.  The beauty of the seasons is lost in the strong winds at any time.

The beautiful elements of summer are not long lasting.  So the poet finds the comparison with summer meaningless to immortalize the beauty of his friend.

He realized that only his poems would make his friend last forever.  His poetry is immortal and through him the beauty and virtues of his friend will remain intact forever.
