Introduction: The battle fought by the British under the leadership of Lord Clive with Sirajuddaula, the last Nawab of Bengal, on the banks of the river Bhagirathi on 23rd June, 1757 AD is known as the Battle of Palashi in the history of India. As a result of the defeat of this war, the sun of Bengal's independence set for about 200 years. The results of this war were far-reaching.
Battleship: In terms of the number and extent of casualties of the Battle of Plassey, it was only a Battleship. In this battle 500 soldiers were killed for the Nawab and only 22 for the English. Historian Nelson states that "although Plassey is a decisive battle, it can never be considered a major battle."
End of Independent Nawabi rule: After losing the battle of Palashi, most of the territory in India was occupied by foreigners and the British gained real power there. The English put Mir Jafar on the throne as a puppet in their own hands. They became real power behind the throne.
Expansion of the Company Empire: By winning the Battle of Plassey, the English Company was able to establish its sovereignty in India. After this war, the British used the resources of Bengal to expand the British rule in other parts of India.
